The surroundings

Loucelles is a small Calvados village ideally located between Bayeux, Caen and the coast: the peaceful Norman countryside, with the essentials of Normandy less than 30 minutes away.

Maison Bayeux seen from the garden

Bayeux — about 15 minutes away

A town of art and history spared by wartime bombing, Bayeux charms with its medieval centre, its cathedral and its famous Tapestry. Pedestrian streets, restaurants and a lively market make it the perfect outing from the house, even for an evening.

The D-Day landing beaches — about 20 minutes away

Arromanches and the remains of the artificial harbour, Omaha Beach, the American cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, Pointe du Hoc: the major sites of the 6 June 1944 landings are right on the house’s doorstep. Allow a full day for a complete remembrance tour.

Caen — about 15-20 minutes away

The Caen Memorial Museum, William the Conqueror’s castle, the Men’s and Ladies’ Abbeys: the capital of Calvados combines history with urban life, shops and restaurants.

With family or friends

Norman markets, cycling along quiet country lanes, sand yachting and sandy beaches on the coast, cheese and cider farms: the region suits active weekends and slow stays alike.

Getting to the house

Paris is about 2h30 away by road; Bayeux and Caen train stations are nearby for groups arriving by train. The exact address is shared after booking confirmation.
